Head Coach: David Shaffer
Dave Shaffer selected head coach for 2005.
Long time Montgomery High and Santa Rosa United Coach Dave Shaffer has been
selected as the Coach for Sol for the 2005 season. One of the most
successful youth and high school coaches in Sonoma County history, Dave
knows how to attract and motivate great players and develop a winning
program. Montgomery has a long history of North Bay League and North Coast
Section success. Dave has accumulated many high school coaching honors
including winning Redwood Empire Coach of the Year three times. In
addition, Dave coached 6 time State Cup Champion Santa Rosa United Heat and
current State Cup Champion Santa Rosa United Magic. Magic also was Super Y
League National Champions and winner of the 2001 Kellogg Cup National
Championship. Dave was also 1995 co-coach of the USISL North Bay Breakers
(men’s adult team). |

Assistant
Coach: Luke Oberkirch
Luke Oberkirch, Head Coach for
Sonoma State women’s soccer, has been selected as Assistant Coach for Sol.
Since 1995, when Oberkirch took over as the head coach at Sonoma State, he
has compiled an outstanding 122-46-16 overall record and 78-24-12 mark in
conference play. In his ten complete seasons, Oberkirch has guided his teams
to a first place finish in five of those years, three of them earning CCAA
North Division crowns.
Prior to coming to Sonoma State,
Oberkirch was the head coach of the varsity boy’s soccer team at Montgomery
High School in Santa Rosa from 1987-89. In 1988, his team won the North Bay
League Championship, and in each of his three seasons, his team made the CIF
North Coast Section playoffs. On the club level, Oberkirch has coached the
Santa Rosa United Soccer Club.

Assistant Coach: Sergio Lopez
Sergio Lopez, Coach at Elsie Allen High School returns as
an Assistant Coach for Sol. In 2004 he assisted head coach Hugo Perez and also
played for Sol. He has an impressive record as both coach and a professional player. In
1989-1990 he played for Club Deportivo San Sebastian 3rd division, Federacion
Mexicana de Futbol (FEMEX-FUT), in 1990-1991 for Club Deportivo Tepatitlan 2nd
division, and in 1991-1992 for Club Deportivo San Sebastian 3rd division,
and made the play-offs. In 1992-1993 he played with Club Deportivo Tepatiltan 2nd
division, where they made it to play-offs and won the competition and
in
1993-1994 he played for Club Deportivo Tepatitlan 1st division "A",
and again made the play offs.
After knee surgery he came to play and coach in the Bay Area for
El Farolito amateur soccer team, where he won two season championships in the
San Francisco Premier Soccer League. He also was with the Mezcala Soccer Team,
when they won the State Cup S.F.S.L. He joined the Milan soccer team, as a coach
and player, and brought them to the S.F.S.L where they played in the State Cup final.
