Sol Men Gear Up For National Championships
July24th, 2007 The Sonoma Sol
are headed to San Diego this weekend to compete in the 2007 NPSL National
Championships. After displaying dominance over the NorthWest Division
this season, the Sun Boys are eager to hit the road. They will face
off this Friday night against Queen City FC (Buffalo, NY), the NPSL East
division champions. Sol are headed into the weekend with greatness on
the brain. With the uncharacteristic early departure from the US Open
Cup, Coach Ben Zeimer made the NPSL title his main responsibility.
With injuries to top players such as Chris Daly, CJ Cigler, and Vinny La
Porta, Zeimer had his work cut out for him, however with the rising talent
from the SCFC reserve side and the team's great depth, the Sol prevailed.
Zeimer's system is seamless, and the Sol are a hard team to beat having lost
only twice this season in NPSL fixtures.
Queen City are a young team
established in 2006 and strive to add a women's WPSL team in 2009.
