Press Conference
January 10, 2005 Ramiro Briceño, President of the Sonoma
County Fútbol Club held a press conference on Thursday, January 20, 2005 to
introduce new Head Coach, Dave Shaffer, announce upcoming tryouts and
discuss team plans for the 2005 season. Sol defender Troy Roberts from Cal, recently drafted
in the first round by the L.A. Galaxy in the Major League Soccer
Super draft, was present to discuss his impressions of the team and his
future with the pros. (more)
Sol is the first team to be formed by
the Sonoma County Fútbol Club, a group of lovers of soccer dedicated to
providing the many outstanding adult players from the area’s rich and
diverse soccer culture an opportunity to continue during or after successful
youth club, and college careers. College players can participate after
their seasons are complete without jeopardizing their eligibility. After
successfully establishing a men’s team, it is an SCFC goal to develop a
women’s team along the same principles.
