April 2, 2005  With Sol's college and older youth players called to other duty this weekend, a shorthanded team of twelve played UC Davis (NCAA Div I) in Davis on Sunday suffering a 2-0 loss.  Davis scored one goal each in the first and second half. (more)

 

The first goal came on a strong run down Sol's left flank finished by a low shot to the left of goalie Beto Sanchez.  The second goal came when an outstanding free kick 25 yards out dipped over Sol's wall and into the upper right hand of the net. 

 

In the second half, Sol striker David Briceno was fouled in the penalty area and knocked out of the game by the Davis goalie.  A penalty kick was awarded, but midfielder Carlos Barrajas pushed the ball wide to the left of the net.

 

This was Sol's last exhibition game of the season. The home opener is on April 15th at 7 PM.
