Sol Plays Two Home Games This Weekend

This upcoming
weekend will provide soccer enthusiasts with a feast of their favorite game
played right here in Santa Rosa. Sol will host teams on both Friday and
Saturday nights.
On Friday, April 29th, Sol will
face the San Diego Pumitas at home on Ernie Nevers Field at Santa Rosa High
School. Game time is 7:00PM. San Diego is currently ranked 3rd in the
National Premier Soccer League Western Division with a 1-0-1 record. The
game will be preceded by an Under 10 boys game with teams coached by SRJC
Men’s Coach Marty Kinnahan.
On Saturday, April 30th, Sol
will face 2004 MPSL champion Chico Rooks. Chico is an outstanding team,
currently ranked 4th with a 1-0-1 record in NPSL action. Game time is 7
PM.
For fans of women’s soccer,
Saturday evening will start off with an exhibition game between the Sonoma
State Women’s Team and the California Storm from Sacramento starting at 5:15
PM. The Storm is a legendary team playing in the Women’s Premier Soccer
League whose season begins May 7th. The Storm has been home to many
outstanding women players including Sissi, Lorrie Fair, Brandi Chastain and
Santa Rosa product Christina Bell and continues to draw great players. The
Sonoma State Women will have a tough assignment taking on the Storm.
Adult tickets are $7. Teens
and student tickets are $5. Children 12 and under are free.
The Sonoma State Women will
be selling raffle tickets for a Scion car at both Friday and Saturday’s
games. This benefit will help fund athletic programs at Sonoma State
University. Sol is proud to assist SSU in maintaining their athletic
program
